2 days. 2 glorious days. We are but 2 days away from school being out and days of sunshine, playing outside all day, and vacations. That’s when summer begins for us. I love summer. A break from the rigor. With that thought in mind the boys I decided to do a little project together.
I had the chance to sample Lullaby Paints chalkboard paint. They sent us the perfect chalkboard paint kit to use for this project. This is such a fantastic company! This is a company that cares about your health, safety, and environment. They have perfected the formula for VOC free, non-toxic paint. No harsh chemicals, which means it’s safe for you and your children to use. It’s perfect for nurseries and kids rooms. This is not your regular paint either. This is high quality and so easy to work with!
Even the packaging the paint comes in is safe for the environment. I chose to go with black chalkboard paint, but they have a whole kaleidoscope of colors for you choose from. You can even get a custom color. Check out Lullaby Paints wide array of paint colors here.
The kids and I ran to our local Goodwill and purchased an old frame and artwork to use. I have really been into bamboo lately so I was happy to find this framed art for only $3.38. It’s the perfect size for Sam to draw on or to use as art or a menu board for when we entertain. The artwork was just a print on heavy board with a smooth finish so it was the perfect candidate to paint a chalkboard on.
We disassembled the frame and artwork and cleaned the surfaces with a damp cloth. I let the boys take turns painting with the chalkboard paint. We did 2 coats allowing for drying time between coats.
While the chalkboard was drying, we took things outside and spray-painted the faux bamboo frame. Then, once everything was dry we coated the chalkboard with chalk and wiped it clean with a dry cloth.
I really love the smooth finish of this paint. 2 even coats covered very well. When it came time to clean up it washed off easily with just water on the kids hands. No strong fumes and fun to use!! Here’s our finished product. Let the countdown begin!! 2 days!! WHOO-HOO!!
Easily moved to the floor for a kid activity on a rainy day. Don’t know about yours, but my kids do everything on the floor. This is perfect! To wipe off, you just use a damp cloth and dry. This is very durable paint. We’ve wipe this board off probably 30 times already and it has held up just fine.
